Student Parliament/Government

IIUI Schools Student Parliament/Government (ISP)

IIUI Schools Student Parliament/Govt. (ISP) would act as a formation house for student empowerment, involvement in school discipline affairs, skill building and development of leadership qualities. ISP must be formed within one month at the beginning of new academic year by the IIUI SCHOOLS DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE (IDC). Principal/Head of the school forms a committee of senior, seasoned and academically sound teachers as prescribed in IIUI Schools Discipline Policy. IDC regulates issues pertaining to discipline and in doing so will establish, supervise and coordinate with ISP.

IIUI Schools Student Parliament /Govt.School Minister1 (most dignified position in ISP)To be elected through majority vote of the entire school. Students preferably from any of the most senior two grades of the school can file their nominations. Applicants would be interviewed and finalized by the IDC election commission. Candidates may run an election campaign.
Deputy School Ministers2 (or more than 2 for schools with large strength) Runner up candidate/s for School Minister election would become DSM/s. OR IDC at its discretion will select DCM/s from the list of grade ministers (if a grade minister is elevated to be a DSM, another student to be the grade minister from that class.)
Grade Ministers As per number of classes in school (One from each class)One representative from each grade elected by majority votes of class fellows in case more than one candidate shows up (pre-election interview to be held by IDC Election Commission where school minister would also sit as a member).

IDC and ISP would devise and define roles, responsibilities and action plans for the whole academic year.

Prime responsibility of the IIUI Schools Student Parliament would be to:

  • …Lead in the morning assemblies
  • …Act and display a model behavior
  • …Monitor and regulate discipline
  • …Assist for school events and functions

Other avenues of student participation and responsibility sharing:

Day Coordinator One in each grade(IIUI Schools should avoid using the term class monitor)A day coordinator may be nominated by the grade teacher to oversee the class on daily basis. Any such position may not be extended for more than a month and not more than twice in an academic year that will ensure maximum participation of students in their capacity and confidence building.
Subject AssistantOne student for each subject in each grade Each subject teacher at her discretion may nominate a student to be subject assistant. It is advised that responsibility must be rotated atleast on term basis or ideally on monthly basis.
